ADVICE ON VISA TO TANZANIA & TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

We highly encourage travelers to apply for their visa online through the Tanzania eVisa portal (Tanzania eVisa – Welcome), ideally at least 21 days prior to their scheduled departure to Tanzania. For those nationalities eligible for visa on arrival, this option is available at entry points such as airports, border crossings, or sea ports.

General Requirements:

Applicants seeking entry visas to Tanzania must fulfill all necessary prerequisites. These requirements include the submission of the following documents:

  1. Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond the anticipated departure date from Tanzania, with a minimum of two blank pages.

  2. Visa Application Form: Fully completed and signed by the applicant.

  3. Passport-size Photographs: Two recent passport-size photographs (measuring 4.5cm x 3.5cm).

  4. Return Ticket or Flight Confirmation: Photocopy demonstrating proof of return travel.

  5. Supporting Travel Documentation: Depending on the purpose of the visit, either for tourism or business:

    • For tourism: No additional documents required.

    • For business: A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s company (if applying from their home country) or an invitation letter from a Tanzanian counterpart.

  6. Proof of Residency: Required if applying from a country other than the applicant’s country of origin.

  7. Non-Refundable Visa Fee: Payment in cash, typically US$ 50 (or US$ 100 for US passport holders).

Essential Documents for Travel:

In addition to the visa application requirements, travelers should ensure they have the following essential documents:

  • Passport: Along with a photocopy.
  • Passport Photo: Extra copies may be required.
  • Cash: US dollars, pounds sterling, or euros, as well as a credit card for emergencies.
  • Travel Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for the duration of the trip.
  • Air Tickets or E-ticket Receipt: Proof of flight reservations.
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate: Mandatory for entry into Tanzania.

By adhering to these guidelines and ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and submitted in advance, travelers can facilitate a smooth and hassle-free entry process into Tanzania.
